- What we provide
Appropriate places for the Bacchanalia String Quartet to play in the ceremony are for 15 minutes prior to the ceremony as guests arrive, the entrance of the bride, the signing of the register, and during the recessional. For ceremonies including communion, we can also play at the offertory, the sign of peace, and during communion.
For garden weddings followed by refreshments, the quartet can continue playing while you and your guests celebrate.
The Bacchanalia String Quartet will travel to regional ceremonies - we regularly play in the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Victor Harbour. We have even travelled interstate!

- What it costs
For a short wedding service without communion, the cost is $560 which includes 15 minutes of playing before the commencement of the ceremony. This $560 represents a one-hour engagement of the Quartet. For weddings involving communion, the cost is $740, again including 15 minutes of playing before the arrival of the bride, and represents a one-and-a-half hour engagement. Engagements outside the Adelaide Metropolitan Area may incur an additional charge to cover travel. Longer engagements are competitively priced — please contact us to discuss your requirements.

- What we need
The Quartet requires four chairs without arms and an adequate level of lighting to play (being able to comfortably read a book at arms length is a good guide). Everything else we bring with us.
Due to the delicate (and expensive) nature of our instruments, we do request that for outdoor engagements some sort of shelter is available from the sun during the summer months, as well as protection from the rain. Our instrument insurance no longer covers us for damage caused to our instruments from the rain, and so failure to provide adequate cover in bad weather may unfortunately prevent us from performing. We would also request that if bubbles are blown during your ceremony that these be kept well away from the Quartet as the detergent can damage the varnish on our instruments.
The Bacchanalia String Quartet are a completely acoustic ensemble and amplification is usually not necessary. If however the venue is particularly large or noisy, you may wish to use free standing microphones to give the sound an “ambient lift”. In this instance, the amplification is the client’s responsibility.

- How to hear us
Although we do a few concerts every year, most of the engagements the Quartet performs are private functions, and so it is often not possible for you to hear us play before making a booking. We have however put a number of sound files on this website on the repertoire page.
